Parasauli
The village of Parasauli is situated 4 and a half kilometre north of Parakhama, slightly to the west.
One day Sri Krishna came to this village to head His cows with His friends when Aghasura came there, sent by Kamsa, in the form of a snake and swallowed everyone. That’s why this place is called Sarpasthali or Sapauli. Now people call this place Parasauli.
How to get there: You can easily go to this place by auto from Vrindavan.
The Liberation of Aghasura
In the Garga Samhita, Sri Narada Muni explains to Sri Bahulashva, the Story of the liberation of Aghasura.
Shri Narada Muni said: “Once, as, near the beautiful Yamuna, with the boys Lord Krishna was herding the calves, Lord Krishna enjoyed the pastimes of childhood. A great demon named Aghasura stayed there. His body was two miles long and his mouth wide open.”
“From afar they saw him, his body like a great mountain. Approaching, and clapping their hands, they entered his mouth with the calves.”
“To protect them, Lord Krishna entered the mouth along with the boys. When the demon in the form of a snake had swallowed the boys and calves, the demigods cried out, “Alas!” and the demons became happy. Then Lord Krishna expanded His universal form inside Aghasura’s stomach.”
“It’s movements stopped, the demon’s life-breath broke through the demon’s skull and left. With a glance Lord Krishna brought the boys and calves to life. Then a light that was like a lightning flash (left the demon’s body) and entered Krishna, who was dark as a monsoon cloud.”
Sri Bahulashva said: “Who was this demon in his previous birth that he was able to enter Lord Krishna? Simply by hating Him, this demon quickly attained Lord Krishna.”
Shri Narada Muni said: “O king, he was Shankhacuda’s son, and his name was Agha. He was young, strong, and very handsome. He was like another Kamadeva. When he saw the disfigured sage Astavakra Muni walking by the Malaya Hills, Agha laughed and said, “Who is this ugly person?”
Then the sage cursed the demon Agha: “O wicked-hearted one, you will become a snake. You will be the ugliest snake in the circle of the earth.”
The demon then gave up his pride and fell at the feet of the sage, begging him for redemption. Seeing that the demon, his pride and arrogance now gone, had fallen at his feet, the sage became pleased with him and gave him a benediction.
Shri Astavakra Muni said: “Shri Krishna, who is more handsome than many millions of Kamadevas, will enter your stomach. Then you will be free from having a snake’s form.”
By Astavakra Muni’s curse Agha became a snake, and by Astavakra Muni’s blessing Aghasura attained liberation even the demigods cannot attain.
This pastime was performed when Sri Krishna was five years old, but the sakhas revealed this pastime in Vraja one year later. On that day Sri Balarama was at home on His birthday.
