Ramana Reti

Please note, this is one of my old videos. For complete information watch the video at the bottom of the page.

Sri Ramana Reti is situated one km from Mahavana, on the banks of Sri Yamuna. This sandy beach near the bank of the Yamuna is presently known as Ramana Reti but was previously known as Ramanaka, and it was the place where Krishna and Balarama enjoyed playing childhood games with Their friends in the sand. It is said that this transcendental playground was rediscovered by Shrila Narayana Bhatta. The word ‘ramana’ means ‘pleasure’ and ‘reti’ means ‘sand’. Ramanaka is situated in the small forest of Ramanavana which is mentioned in the Puranas as one of the upavanas of Vrindavana Dhama. Many sadhus live here.

Local Vrajavasi telling us how to make designs on the sand with fingers. First make a house with ring finger. Then make a fist with thumb sticking out and then press in the centre of the house. This will make the sign of Lord Krishna and Sri Radha’s lotus feet. Then using your ring finger, make 5 dots on top of lotus feet. On the four corners draw Chakra (wheel), Gada (mace), Shankha (conch shell) & Padma (lotus) – this shows we have invited Lord Lakshmi Narayan in our house. Now take the dust from the lotus feet of Lord Krishna and Sri Radha and put a little in your mouth. Then apply to different parts of the body. This means that we will take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna if we have any health problems. Than roll in the sand and this will free us from the cycle of birth and death.
